Job Overview: Resident Engineer (Hydropower Construction)

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Resident Engineer with a strong background in hydropower project execution. The ideal candidate will have:
✔ Minimum 5 years of hands-on hydropower construction experience
✔ Proven track record in supervising large-scale hydropower projects
✔ Strong technical expertise in civil engineering and site management

This role requires leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in remote locations to ensure smooth project execution.


Key Responsibilities

1. Site Supervision & Project Management

  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor construction progress and quality

  • Supervise construction teams, subcontractors, and laborers to ensure adherence to project timelines

  • Manage material procurement, equipment deployment, and workforce allocation

2. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure all construction activities comply with Nepal’s hydropower regulations and safety standards

  • Inspect concrete works, structural foundations, tunneling, and hydro-mechanical installations

  • Maintain detailed quality assurance records and submit progress reports

3. Technical Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, including work schedules and budget updates

  • Review engineering drawings, BOQs, and design specifications

  • Document site challenges and propose technical solutions

4. Team Leadership & Client Coordination

  • Train and mentor junior engineers and site staff

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and government authorities

  • Conduct safety briefings and enforce PPE compliance

5. Problem Solving & Risk Management

  • Identify potential construction risks and implement mitigation strategies

  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to excavation, concreting, and structural stability

  • Ensure environmental protection measures are followed


Required Qualifications & Skills

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Mandatory)

  • Additional certifications in Hydropower/Project Management (Preferred)

Work Experience

  • 5+ years in hydropower construction (Candidates with full hydropower project completion experience may qualify with less experience)

  • Experience in remote/ mountainous construction sites (Solukhumbu experience is a plus)

Technical Skills

✔ Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and construction management software
✔ Ability to interpret blueprints, hydraulic designs, and geotechnical reports
✔ Knowledge of Nepal’s hydropower policies and environmental guidelines
