Position Overview
As a Data Engineer at Helvetas, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and managing our data ecosystem. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure that support a wide array of organizational needs. Your work will empower decision-makers across Helvetas by ensuring timely, accurate, and accessible data across platforms and units.
This is a standalone expert role within an internationally distributed team. It requires a proactive, self-driven individual with demonstrated technical expertise and the ability to operate independently while collaborating across diverse functional teams.
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement robust data infrastructure that aligns with Helvetas’ global data strategy.

Build and manage scalable data pipelines to transform raw data into structured, usable formats.

Ensure data availability, accuracy, and security for analytics and reporting purposes.

Utilize Microsoft Azure Data Platform tools—including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Microsoft Fabric—to establish an end-to-end data ecosystem.

Develop and maintain data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouses.

Ensure compliance with data privacy, protection, and governance standards.

Deploy and manage ETL/ELT processes using Azure-based tools.

Support data integration needs across different projects and departments.

Use Power BI and other tools for data visualization and business intelligence reporting.

Continuously monitor and improve data systems to adapt to changing business requirements.

Stay updated with evolving trends in cloud technologies, Azure services, and data engineering practices.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

Minimum of three years of professional experience in data engineering, particularly in designing and implementing cloud-based data solutions.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Azure, especially the Azure Data Platform tools (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Data Factory).

Hands-on experience in building and managing data pipelines, warehouses, and lakehouses.

Proven experience operating Microsoft Fabric and working with complex Azure environments.

Proficiency in Power BI and other data visualization/analysis tools.

Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data security, and data governance.

Relevant Microsoft Azure and Data Engineering certifications are a strong asset.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Experience working in a multicultural and geographically distributed team is desirable.
