Minimum Qualification and Skills Required
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field (e.g., Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Disaster Risk Management).

At least 5 years of relevant work experience in rural water supply and sanitation.

Strong fluency in both written and spoken Nepali and English.
Technical Expertise and Experience
We are looking for an engineer who can deliver high-quality technical inputs for sustainable WASH infrastructures. Candidates must have:

Proven experience in feasibility studies, surveys, scheme design, cost estimation, and quality assurance of:

Gravity-fed water supply systems
-
Solar-powered and electrically powered water lifting systems
-
Multiple-use water systems (MUS)
-

Solid experience with the design and implementation of:

Institutional toilets (for schools, health posts, and public facilities)

Drainage systems, Fecal Sludge Management (FSM) systems

Knowledge and application of Water Safety Plans (WSP) and water quality testing

Competency in integrating Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) into technical solutions
Technical Tools and Software Proficiency
The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in:

AutoCAD, MS Excel, ArcGIS, SW Maps

WSPV3/WSPVB3 for water supply system design

CROPWAT, New_LocClim, and other hydrological and GIS tools

Basic construction supervision and quality control principles
Key Responsibilities
As a WASH Infrastructure Engineer, your key duties will include:
-
Provide technical support and mentoring to WASH unit staff across rural and urban municipalities.
-
Conduct surveys, designs, and detailed engineering of water schemes—especially focusing on large systems, solar/electrical lifting, and MUS.
-
Guide the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and ensure proper documentation through measurement books.
-
Monitor the construction and ensure material quality and implementation standards on-site.
-
Develop and design GEDSI-friendly water supply points and sanitation facilities.
-
Assist in technical auditing, post-construction monitoring, and performance evaluations.
-
Incorporate CCA/DRR and inclusive design principles throughout the WASH lifecycle.

Prepare and conduct training sessions and technical workshops for capacity building.
-
Collaborate with Technical Specialists, Advisors, and WUSCs (Water Users and Sanitation Committees) to maintain high implementation standards.
